Serving Lamoille County Elders for 20 years.
Lamoille Elders Networking Services (LENS) began in 1991 with financial help from a 3-year federal grant through Project Care.
LENS incorporated as a private non-profit 501 (c) (3) in April 1993. Its purpose was to develop and fund new services for elders, and to match community volunteers of all ages with elders in need of services.
In November of 1993, LENS was awarded management of the Meals on Wheels program through CVCOA.
In 1999 LENS, filed for the trade name of Meals on Wheels of Lamoille County to accurately reflect the services being provided. In February of 2001, LENS signs a lease contract with the Lamoille Senior Center and moved the full operation to their current location – 24 Upper Main Street.
Over the past 15 years we have received various grants, donations, and support that have allowed us to expand and improve the kitchen space and upgrade major appliances, including the replacement of 10 chest freezers with a walk-in cooler and freezer. Today we serve over 40,000 meals a year and remain a vital organization.
