MOWLC serves individuals age 60 or older experiencing food insecurity, including but not limited to: inability to prepare own meals, not getting proper nutrition, lack of income that makes purchasing food difficult, lack of transportation to the store, hospital discharge, and illness or injury. Individuals younger than 60 who have a disability may also qualify with special authorization by the VT Center for Independent Living.
Meals are delivered by volunteers and staff members Monday–Friday to every town in Lamoille County and on Mondays and Fridays in Worcester (possible through a partnership with Worcester United Methodist Church). Frozen meals are available for those that need extra help on the weekends and holidays. Milk can be requested and is delivered once a week.
All our meals meet one-third of the daily requirements for nutrition and fit into a low-fat, low-sodium, and low-cholesterol diet. We can also accommodate some other dietary restrictions. Please call for details 1-802-888-5011
If you or someone you know is 60 or over and interested in receiving meals through MOWLC, please give us a call at (802) 888-5011 and we’ll be happy to sign you up!
Community Meal Sites
Meal sites at two locations provide a welcoming social environment to enjoy a nutritious community lunch.
Morrisville Senior Center (24 Upper Main St.):
Wednesdays 11:30-12:30. Restaurant style with 2 choices on the menu and choice of dessert. No reservations required. Suggested donation of $5.00/meal.
Johnson Senior Center on the 2nd floor of the town office building (293 Lower Main St. W.):
Tuesdays & Thursdays 12:00. Reservation required. Suggested donation of $4.00/meal.
MOWLC receives partial funding for the meals we prepare for seniors aged 60 and over from the federal Older Americans Act (OAA) through the Central Vermont Council on Aging (CVCOA). Both the OAA and CVCOA have strict guidelines regarding nutrition and require that we collect certain information from our recipients. When seniors or their families call to enroll in our program, we will ask a series of questions to fill out this form as required. It contains details about where and when the meals are to be delivered and any dietary concerns or food allergies we need to be aware of, as well as some demographics. All information is strictly confidential.
There is a suggested donation of $4.00 per delivered meal. This amount helps to offset the gap in funding we receive and the cost to provide our meals.
